Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need an electrician?
No. It fixes to the wall and plugs into a socket, so it is a screwdriver job. That is the main reason to choose this over the hardwired version.
Is the cable visible?
There is a cord to the socket, which is the trade for not opening the wall. Many people run it behind the nightstand or use a cord cover.
Does the arm stay in position?
Yes. The pivot is set with enough resistance to hold the head under its own weight, so it does not drift while you are reading.
What height should I mount it?
Beside a bed, roughly level with your shoulder when sitting up. Over a desk, high enough that the arm clears the surface when it swings in.
What upkeep does it need?
A dry soft cloth over the arm and cone. Leave the joint dry, since the friction there is what holds the arm steady.
