Frequently Asked Questions
Does it project out from the wall at all?
Barely. The shade mounts directly to the backplate, so it sits about as close as a wall light can. That is what makes it the right choice for a narrow hallway or a stairwell.
Which way does the light go?
Mostly down the wall in a soft widening column, with a warm glow through the shade itself. It lights a route rather than a room, which is exactly what you want in a corridor or up a stair.
How high should it be mounted?
Around sixty to sixty six inches to the centre for a hallway. Up a staircase, keep the same height above each tread line so the run of fixtures climbs evenly with the stairs.
Can I run several down a corridor?
That is where it looks best. Space them evenly, six to eight feet apart, and the overlapping pools of light give a long wall rhythm instead of one bright patch in the middle.
How do I clean the shade?
A dry soft cloth over the outside every few months. Keep water and sprays off it and the surface keeps its even tone rather than marking.
