Frequently Asked Questions
Does it work under a low ceiling?
Yes, that is one of its strengths. The form is wide and shallow, so it takes very little vertical space and suits an eight foot ceiling over a dining table.
Which way does the light go?
Down through the disc and outward around its edge, with some bounce off the ceiling. That combination is what gives a room even light instead of a single pool.
What table does it suit?
A round or square table best of all, where a circular fixture mirrors the shape below. For a long rectangular table, the linear Sorrel is the better match.
Is the glow even across the whole disc?
Yes. The stone spreads the light right to the rim, so there is no visible bright spot where the source sits. That evenness is the whole reason for using alabaster.
How do I clean it?
A dry soft cloth over the top and underside once a year. Nothing wet on the stone. Dust on the upper face is the only thing that dulls the glow.
