Is it stable on a side table?
Very. Ceramic is heavy, so the base sits firmly and the lamp does not tip if the table gets knocked. That weight is one of the advantages over a lighter material.
Does it come with a shade?
It is designed as a complete lamp, base and shade together in proportion. The pairing is part of why the texture reads properly rather than getting lost.
Where does it look best?
A console table, a sideboard, or beside a sofa where people pass close enough to register the surface. In a bedroom it makes a strong bedside pair.
What kind of light does it give?
Warm ambient light from the shade, up and down. Good for reading in a chair and better still as one of two or three low light sources in a room.
How do I clean the textured base?
A dry soft brush over the spikes, which gets into the texture better than a cloth. The glaze is durable, so an occasional light wipe with a barely damp cloth is fine too.
